Most of us (me included) can’t get our day started without a cup of Joe. For me it is not just a stimulant that gets me going in the morning…it’s a requirement! Here’s an alternative for those of you who feel like they rely too much on caffeine and want an equally healthy, nutritional option. At the very least a delicious drink that can increase your digestion and decrease your stress level…a smoothie!
Smoothie shops have become a popular trend much like the Orange Julius shops in the 1980’s. But rather than spending up to eight bucks for one on the go, make your own at home for pennies! You might think that the preparation and time it takes to make the thirst quenching treat is not worth your while, but think again. The anti-oxidants, essential vitamins and proteins that the body needs for daily function say otherwise.
The key is to plan ahead. When you do your weekly grocery shop, purchase all of the ingredients that you will need such as berries, bananas, grains and milk.
Simply combine all of your ingredients into a blender or food processor. Blend for a minute of two and that’s it! In less than five minutes you can enjoy a fresh and healthy beverage that will perk you up and get you ready for the day. Make a couple at a time and have one mid-day, as a meal replacement or with your lunch. They are great to pack for the gym as well.
By adding just one smoothie to your daily diet, you are sure to increase your health and feel much better in the process. It’s fast, easy and tastes great!
